Who we are

Meet the CEO

Ruth Tete Farkollie

I am the Founder/CEO of Tete’s African Interiors. Growing up, I was driven by my childhood goal of expressing creativity & exploring my passion beyond fulfilling traditional house tasks as a young girl in Liberia.

I found my voice and passion, and realized they needed to be leveraged for social impact. My efforts are driven to address a range of problems related to economic development, environmental sustainability & women empowerment.

Through the production of African-infused home decors, we get to meet customers’ needs while making social impacts simultaneously.

Sustainability

Supporting Community

We cultivate a unique production process that integrates sourcing raw materials from local artisans for business empowerment, and to bridge the gap between local arts and western imports.
We believe that every purchase increases their income, enhances their welfare, and strengthens their business.

Creating Jobs

We partner with institutions to equip youth, mostly young girls, with home economics and arts & crafts skills in the areas of tailoring, weaving, tie & dye, etc.
So far, over 85% of the girls who have been trained go on to create their own businesses, gain employment, or are currently working with us.

Environment

We integrate waste management into our production process by gathering the leftover fabrics from tailor shops and recycling into sustainable home decors or accessories produced by our young trainees.
This process is geared towards promoting environmental sustainability and the production of eco-friendly products.

Our Impact

Youth unemployment is a major challenge in Liberia and the scale leans disproportionately in the direction of females. In our aspiration for gender equity in work spaces, we work with young women and girls by providing them job creation opportunities through arts and crafts skills, and employment at TAI.

SDGs Goals

Our work connects with Goals number 5 (Gender), 8 (Decent work & economic growth), 12 (Responsible consumption & Production), 13 (Climate Action). Our approach at Tete’s African Interiors (TAI) is to create this social impact with young girls at the forefront.
